BPA is an internationally recognized Los Angeles design firm. The work of Barton Phelps, FAIA, is recognized in The AD 100 Architects (Architectural Digest), The List (Western Interiors), and The Franklin Report. A native New Yorker, he has a B.A. in Art (Williams) and M. Arch (Yale), and worked with Sir Colin Wilson in London and Frank Gehry and Charles Moore in L.A. As a UCLA professor for 22 years, he has linked practice with teaching and research fellowships from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Elected to the College of Fellows, American Institute of Architects, and Chair of its national Committee on Design, he's been an adviser to the U. S. State Department, the U.S. General Services Administration, the National Endowment for the Arts, the University of California, and City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Design Advisory Panel.
